If someone goes to the past and say to the people that one day they would be able to make tiny holes in a pin which won’t be much thicker than a hair or they would be able to build a machine that could drill with the speed of 10 meters per minute and would be as large as 215 meters high mass so they would probably beat you with a stick and and take you are psycho! Right?
But what we see today comparing with our past is that millions of impossibilities have become possible. One of the greatest contributions is from the side of mechanical engineering. If we talk how old it is then it is as old as the human’s first thought! And if we talk about its vastness so sorry I even cannot imagine it but can say one thing initially, it was concerned to motion and its aspect. Go out, walk through a street and watch around, the existence of every artificial thing you’ll see would be a 60 to 70 percent contribution of a mechanical engineer. If you are thinking about smartphones and other telecommunication devices, then keep in mind that the very basic part of the every electronic device that is green circuit board is impossible to make without a machine which is made by mechanical engineer. So again thanks goes to mechanical engineers for giving us the Smartphone.
Mechanical engineering is said to be the mother of all engineering fields. Let me name few of them, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Automobile, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, Robotics, Biomechanics, Structural Analysis, Machine Design, Nanotechnology, Bionanotechnology, Biomechatronics Metallurgical Engineering, Material Engineering, Machine and Human Safety and many other.
Mechanical engineering on one hand is the vastest field of all and on the other is known for its toughness and conceptuality when it comes to the students. In any engineering university in the world, it is considered as the toughest field as compared to the others. To the student, it demands a zeal of hard work and most importantly an ocean of interest. If there is no interest, it comes to the matter of survival!
My compliment for mechanical engineering is that I love this field and advise to take the interest in this field because all you need is “interest”.
