Clap Switch is a  mini electronics project, made with the help of the basic components. Clap circuit has the ability to switch ON/OFF any electrical device or circuit by the clap sound.

It is called Clap Switch, because the condenser mic which is used in the Project  will take the sound having same pitch as the Clap sound as the input. But it does not mean that the circuit will only operate on Clap sound , you can give any sound but of high pitch .So you can also say that it converts the Sound signals into the Electrical signals. This project is very basic and easy to understand and interesting too.  Enjoy !!!




  • Electric Condenser mic
  • Two BC547 transistors
  • 1K, 4.7K, 47K, 330 and 470 ohm resistors
  • 10µF and 2x 100nF capacitors
  • LED
  • 555 timer
  • 9V Battery
  • Working:This project  is made with the of Sound activated sensor, which senses the high pitch sound  as input and convey it to the circuit  to give the Output. When sound is given as the input to the Electric Condenser Mic, it is changed into the Electrical signals as the LED turns on. LED switches ON, as we give sound to the circuit as input and it turns OFF automatically after few seconds. Turn-On LED timer can be changed by varying the value of 100mF capacitor as it is connected with 555 timer which is used to generate the pulse.



    You can also use this circuit to switch ON/OFF any electrical appliances like Bulb , Fan or any other small circuit by using relay .
