This project is a simple counter based on sequential circuit design that displays up to 10 digits counted from 0 to 9. 555 timer will be in astable mode and it will generate a clock pulse, which would be controlled by 100K potentiometer. This clock pulse will be as a input to 74LS90 IC which is a decade 0-9 ripple counter. The 74LS90 IC is actually a MOD-10 decade counter that gives a BCD output code. For this circuit a 74LS47 IC is also important . which act as a decoder and convert BCD to 7-segment display. That 7-segment code is then used to glow the corresponding LEDs in the display so that the BCD number can be displayed in decimal form.
